1 Timothy 3:15
but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.
*
Paul wrote this verse after describing the various codes of conduct for
overseers and deacons. As the church is the pillar and support of the truth,
the leaders of such an entity require a high standard of conduct.
Especially in this day and age, sustaining the truth of God is no small
matter. In fact, unless we stick to the high standard of carrying out
our conduct, it will be very easy to be swept away by the waves of this
world. So, I need to constantly remember that how I conduct in my
church will influence how God's truth is upheld. It isn't a matter of
being a nice guy and gain others favors, but it is a matter of how I
can assist in preserving God's wonderful truth within my church in order
to become the potent light and salt to the neighboring territories.
