When I Cannot Approach God

1 Chronicles 21:30

But David could not go before it to inquire of God, for he was terrified
by the sword of the angel of the LORD.

*
Contrary to David's song from yesterday's journal entry (2 Samuel 22:20),
today I find
David being terrified to go before God because he committed sin against
God by taking matters into his own hands instead of trusting God.

God had already atoned his sin, and showed His mercifulness even in
the midst of the consequencial judgement. But David was still afraid
to approach God.

This illustrates once again how deathly commiting sin against God is
because it pushes my heart away from God (not because God moves away from me).
So, whenever I am afraid of approaching God, I should comb through my
own heart and cast away my unresolved sin.
