Pleasing in the Sight of the Lord

2 Chronicles 1:10-12

"Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people, for who can rule this great people of Yours?"
God said to Solomon, "Because you had this in mind, and did not ask for riches, wealth or honor, or the life of those who hate you, nor have you even asked for long life, but you have asked for yourself wisdom and knowledge that you may rule My people over whom I have made you king,
wisdom and knowledge have been granted to you. And I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings who were before you has possessed nor those who will come after you."

*
Solomon's encounter with God in his dream teaches me what God is pleased with.
Solomon's answer of asking for God's wisdom to take care of his people -- i.e.,
the shepherd's heart -- pleased God. (It was pleasing in the sight of
the Lord
that Solomon had asked this thing. -- 1 King 3:9)

With God's power, many things could have been attained, such as removal of
my problems, fulfilling my desires/wishlists, or experience miracles, but
the power to lead and guide people is what God desires from me. In fact,
if what I learn is not applied to caring for people more and better, then
I am totally missing target.

Lord, like Solomon, I also desire the depth of Your wisdom to lead others to You. Give
me the heart of a good shepherd. In Jesus' name. Amen.
