2 Samuel 7:17,22
In accordance with all these words and all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.
"For this reason You are great, O Lord GOD; for there is none like You,
and there is no God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
David just had a great plan to praise and respect God by planning to build
up a temple for God. but that plan was removed by God and passed it on to
his descendents. so, when Nathan brought the news to David, he responded
by acknowledging his own position with respect to God, and praised God for
His greatness. he didn't complain or get discouraged because his "holy" plan
was rejected.
at the end of verse 22, David says, according to all that we have
heard with our ears. he treasured what he heard from God all his
life and this is another instance of his acknowledgement. he did not
have to ask for proofs, or have an argument. he simply took what he
had heard to his heart and moved on by faith. this is a trait i must attain.
