Love that Didn't Need To Be

Romans 5:5-8

and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

*
For someone I love, making sacrifices of some sort is relatively easy. But for
someone I dislike, or hate, that would be close to impossible because there is
no motive for me to do that. Instead, my mind would be quickly going through
how to either avoid or confront that person. Loving that person would be the
last thing on my list.

This morning, I'm especially touched by Christ's love for us while we were
still His enemies (or offenders). He did this on our terms and did it at
the right time (v. 6) for us, and
not at His own convenience.

This amazing love of God must finally be bringing an impact in my heart; and
I need to respond to Him correctly. I must recognize those I am neglecting
to pass on God's love to, and must adjust my attitude and ready love them
with willing sacrifice on my part.
