[S] Matthew 15:11 --
11 It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man."
[O] Even though our lives are interwoven between physical body and spiritual soul, God's order of priority is that the spirit of man influences the whole person while the physical body cannot do the same. What we eat or alter physical body cannot defile us but once our hearts are defiled then we're doomed.
[A] While this is an obvious observation, it is also obviously easy to miss this truths and deceive myself to think that how I look or act can change the condition of my heart (especially towards God). I am also reminded that as my child is going through a very difficult medication treatment, it alone cannot alter his stance toward God.
[P] Dear God, would you please protect my child's faith and heart toward You during this physically challenging time? I pray that the purity of faith will prevail the pains and discomfort. In Jesus' name. Amen.
