[S] 1 Corinthians 10:23-24 --
23All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify.
24Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor.
[O] Being lawful to me is to comply to a certain set of rules and regulations whether it's for the society I live in or the spiritual community I am a part of. Paul makes it clear that being lawful does not automatically translate into being profitable or edifying others and can easily lead down the path of selfish pride. So, flipping this concept around, I need to consider profitability and edification of others first before the aspect of following the rules because it's so easy to say "I did it" than to say "I cared for others through their challenges."
Now, I need to think about specific ways I can be profitable and edifying others around me. More so than the material offerings my time and attention given to others may bring more value in the long run.
[A] Live others-centric life. I should be lawful so others around me can be blessed by God, not just to say I am compliant. Do one act of kindness within the context of being lawful in the next week that will bless others.
[P] Dear Jesus, You have lived your earthly life to complete this concept of being totally lawful and yet totally profitable and edifying us through your conformity of the "Cross." May I live my life following after that spirit. In Jesus' name. Amen.
