Second Wind of Compassion

[S] Matthew 14:14 --
14  When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick.

[O] After hearing about John's death, Jesus left to a secluded place by Himself.  My guess is that He was deeply saddened by Herod's murdering John just to save his own face.  In this journey on His own He runs into the crowd that chased Him around.  Even in this time of solitude and desiring to be away from all the "demanding" people, He still has compassion left for them to heal them as well as to feed them.  Jesus' compassionate heart for His people is really amazing.

[A] In doing God's ministry, I often find myself exhausted from all the hustle and bustle of daily tasks and when I am beat, I don't have any room to worry about others around me; but just like Jesus' model, I must see it through His eyes of compassion to meet their needs.  This is a tall order but I must try to follow after Jesus.

[P] Dear Jesus, please enlarge my heart so I may follow Your footsteps of ministering to others with compassionate heart.  In Your name.  Amen.
