[S] Genesis 17:23-26 --
23Then Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all the servants who were born
in his house and all who were bought with his money, every male among
the men of Abraham's household, and circumcised the flesh of their
foreskin in the very same day, as God had said to him.
24Now Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
25And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
26In the very same day Abraham was circumcised, and Ishmael his son.
[O] "The very same day" repeats twice in this passage and that grabbed my attention because Abraham's immediate application from what he heard from God impressed me this time again. Well, this is mainly due to my lack of this speedy response when I hear from God. How many years have I been trying to establish my "early" morning devotional altar? One too many .... The second "the very same day" confirms the completion of his immediate response. I may start the very same day but won't complete it until many days/months later.
[A] I need to work on this type of a speedy response to God's calling. Listen to what He's telling me so I may respond accordingly. 1 Sam 3:10b -- "Speak, for Your servant is listening."
[P] Dear God, as we have heard the message of "Speak, for Your servant is listening." last Sunday, I want to submit to You in listening mode -- or as one of my professor said in "sponge" mode. Speak to me, Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.
